Tower Garden Initial Review

Recently, I’ve relocated and decided to see how I can make gardening work in small spaces. I set up my container garden army & raised garden beds as usual, but after I saw a friend of mine grow veggies effortlessly- I decided to dabble in tower garden by juice plus.

The Tower Garden, an eco-friendly plug-and-play vertical aeroponic growing system, allows people to enjoy fresh vegetables year-round using less than 10% of the water and space of traditional gardens. The Tower Garden is 30” in diameter and about 60” tall, so it is perfect on a deck, patio or indoors. It comes with a growing kit which includes everything you need to start. It even have additional accessories you can purchase when ready. It is easy to assemble and no green thumb needed. There is no weeding, no tilling, no dirt!

I chose to purchase a tower garden because it’s healthy, efficient, and fits my new lifestyle. Instead of toxic chemicals and pesticides, Tower Garden grows using natural minerals and nutrients that yields so much! I also just wanted to see what it was all about. I chose to share this with the BGWG family because I feel as if it aligns well with what we stand for and should be a product introduced into our community.

I started my seedlings with what was provided in the kit and I saw germination in about a week or two, but I really saw ready to transplant seedlings when I set my new seeds outside. I recommend if the weather permits- to get faster germination- set the seedlings to outside.

Everything honestly was easy. I received “how to” videos prior to getting my tower garden so I just followed along with starting my seeds. The seeds provided are pretty basic veggies- cucumber, beefsteak tomatoes, Dino kale, lettuce, eggplants, and a few more. Because I’m an avid grower, I had tons of seeds I wanted to add as well. You can grow just about anything except root plants such as carrots, garlic etc. when in doubt, use google to see if you can grow a particular plant in the tower garden.

Also, I purchased a few ready to transplant seedlings. Tower Garden have a few companies they recommend, but unfortunately I couldn’t find any black owned companies. Ideally, you could use seedlings for hydroponic settings as well, but I had no luck there. Please if you know any, please let me know so we can patronize our own! Nonetheless, I purchased from Living Towers because they were the most affordable, had the best variety, and the fastest shipping. The seedlings came somewhat stressed from their journey, but the cane back to life after a few days in the tower garden.

I didn’t assemble the tower garden until my seedlings were ready and delivered. The entire process was seamless. I recommend making sure you follow the videos emailed to you in chronological order to make sure you are assembling correctly. Also, I recommend if you plan on growing vine-y plants like cucumbers, tomatoes, and squash – purchase the support cage ahead of time! My seedlings are growing so fast I had to rush order my cage! The most work I had to do was balance the pH in the water reservoir. After two adjustments, I was good to go.

My only con is the timer for setting up watering didn’t come with directions. It took me an extra 5-10 minutes to figure out how to set it to the recommended time – 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off. I can save you some time and tell you that every other switch should be switch up. Simple, huh?!

Overall, I see this garden being one of my best investments. I encourage the BGWG family to give it a try if you interested in a different style of gardening, want to eat healthier, and/or don’t have the time or space to manage a traditional garden.
