7 Trailing House Plants You Will Fall In Love With

There is nothing like adding a good trailing plant to your collection for character. Not only is it rewarding to watch the length increase, but it perfect (and affordable) accent piece to your home. Here are a few of our favorites from the founder of BGWG’s home.

Maranta Plant aka Prayer Plant

These tropical beauties are well known for the prayer hand like movement from night to day. With simple indirect light, humidity, and weekly watering, this plant is perfect for most homes!

Pothos

This is one of the most rewarding and easiest plants to care for. It’s an air purifier and beginner friendly. It can stand a little neglect and trails pretty fast, making it really rewarding and a great teacher. Read more about it care here.

Curly Lipstick Plant

The plant on the right is definitely a quirky plant to add to your space. With the right amount of light, it will bloom long red blooms that favors a tube of lipstick, hence the name. It enjoys bright light, drying out before watering, and regular potting soil.



Heart Leaf (Green) Philodendron

This is a really low maintenance beauty that requires on shaded light, moist soil, and monthly fertilizing during growing season. You’ll see growth before you know it.

Hoya Rope Plant

Want to wow visitors, get a hoya rope plant. It’s twisted foliage is always a talking point. It’s fleshy leaves hold water requiring little watering and it can thrive in well draining potting soil. It flourishes the most in bright indirect light. During growing season, it also blooms a pink cluster of flowers.



White-variegated Tradescantia (wandering jew)

Although this beauty hasn’t begun to trail, it will in no time with little care. It enjoy humidity, frequent watering, and as much sun you can give to maintain its variegation.

Variegated Lipstick Plant

Hoya Wayetii (wax plant)

This plant’s striking foliage is enough to make you want to purchase it. It loves bright light and drying completely out between watering.
