Plant Mama

Learn What Makes Plant Mama Deya’s House Plants So Unique

When beauty influencer Deya isn’t sharing her lifestyle, inspiration, and beauty tips via Instagram or YouTube, she is sharing her 3 + year old houseplant collection on her insta @GlamByDeyaPlants. This DMV local has curated one of the most gorgeous array of house plants that are laced with her signature coloring coding planters (I must say, I’m going to try it out!) . Checking out her YouTube ( Glam By Deya) and her plant Instagram account had me super excited to share her piece of her plant journey.

What inspired you to start your garden?

Since I was a child, my parents have always had plants in the house. I grew up with plants. I guess that is what inspired me to start my plant family. I love what plants symbolize, growth, strength, perseverance, and beauty, all of the things a black woman is!

What does being a plant mama do for you? Is it a form of self care? Coping method?

Being a plant mama is very therapeutic. It gives you something to look forward to when coming home. Plants provide peace and comfort in your home. My sorority sister has being going through some hard times, I mailed her plant to bring her a little joy 🙂
What do you love the most about gardening?

What do you love the most about gardening?

I love to see plants grow. Plants rely completely rely on you. To see a plant grow and flourish brings so much gratification because you are a part of that process.

What do you dislike the most about gardening?

Sometimes in the hotter seasons, plants bring a few gnats, which can be annoying!

What do you struggle the most with in your garden or gardening in general?

I struggle with having the desire to want more plants when I know I do not have the space for it LOL.

Tell us something unique and different about you and your garden.

I only put my plants in white or gold planters only, no other colors!

Isn’t so cute how she ONLY uses white and/or gold planters?! I can’t wait to spice up my home the same way. To keep up with this beauty, follow her all over the internet at Glam By Deya.
