Creating drainage consist of two things to keep in mind: actual drainage holes & an effective drainage system. To prevent overwatering and rotting, add stones/gravel to the bottom of your container prior to adding soil. Drainage holes are another method for preventing overwatering and rotting, they are simply found in containers that have holes at the bottom for draining excess water.
